…what better way to start the week than washing all the dirty linens? Doing nothing of course. But I don’t have a cleaning lady nor a job (yet). So Mondays are my laundry day. To my dear readers from Singapore, I’d like to remind you that you are very lucky. Allow me to tell you why…
In Switzerland, it’s uncommon to have a washing machine at home. I know a person who owns one but most people here, they have none. Reason for so is the lack of space in the apartment. In Singapore, washing machines are normally in the kitchen or in the utitlity area. Here (if you have the space), they are in the bathroom. Most buildings here have a common laundry area in the basement. I’m not sure about other apartments, but where I live each tenant will then own something like a key to access the machines. Some apartments have a washing schedule where each tenants are allocated a specific day to do their laundry. Some have none.
(To Singaporean readers) Now can you imagine having to go elsewhere to do your laundry? What if you live on the 16th floor? That’s why you’re lucky!
We live on the 2nd floor (That’s the 3rd floor by Asian standards. Just in case if my non-Singaporean readers are wondering… In Singapore, the ground floor is the 1st floor.) and there is a lift in the building but I don’t use it when I’m alone. I got stuck in there for 15 WHOLE minutes once! So never again! I’ll only get in the lift when there’s someone with me. So imagine me going down 7 flights of stairs with a laundry basket multiply by 3 (for 3 loads of laundry) every Monday.
And that’s why you’re lucky!
PS: I’m not saying I’m unlucky and I’m not even complaining. I’m just sharing my experiences with you.
Until my next post, I’ll leave you with some outdated photos…

The weather sucks today. I’ve been planning to whip out Fred’s Nikon D90 and show off my photography skills in town but the skies kept playing tricks on me. The sun shined in all its glory this morning but then it poured like nobody’s business barely through noon. Then an hour later, there were no signs of dark clouds and it was brilliant blue skies until the wind came blowing in the moody clouds and it rained all over again. This went on and on several times till I gave up to the wretched weather. There goes the Wednesdays Farmer’s Market…
And so… with a cup of steaming green tea and Owl City’s Fireflies playing in the background, I reminisced to the memories of 3 years ago, when a good friend came to visit.

My brother & I, after a grueling session of wakeboarding

Note to Jason: if you’re reading this, lemme explain my goofy expressions on most of the photos with you. After you told me about the huge crush you had for me, I was utterly shocked. Nope. I wasn’t flattered. But don’t be mad okay? I’m just being honest here. So I came up with my own logical thinking that if I made myself look ugly, you would stop being attracted to me. On a side note, please know that I enjoyed myself tremendously throughout your stay with us. :-D

Playing retards

I thought I was at my most retarded look here but noooooo...

This one topped it all off!
The next couple of photos are my favourites! Especially this one…

Damn!

Can you spot something dripping from his mouth?

“Goodbyes are tough. They are incredibly hard to do. Especially when you have to leave the people that you love the most.”
I’ve been dreading that moment ever since I made the decision to leave. I’ve imagined the pain and felt my heart breaking. When the day finally came for me to say goodbye, it became worse. The floodgates opened. I became an emotional wreck. Seeing the sadness in the eyes of my loved ones sized me down. I was at lost for words to assure them that I’ll be fine because I don’t even know if I will be fine. I forced a smile but more tears came instead. So we hugged. Hoping that it’ll ease the pain away. But it only made things worse. I don’t wanna let them go. I just wanna be in their arms forever.

The day has finally arrived… I’ll be leaving Singapore in less than 7 hours from now. I must apologize for the lack of blog entries as I’ve been incredibly busy since we came back from Indonesia. We had a bridal photo shoot, ran around to different government bodies to settle our admin matter, met friends for last drinks/dinners, spent time with my family… We barely had time for ourselves.
So I had my long-awaited driving test this morning and guess what? I failed again. This time, I must admit, I screwed up. I had a good tester but I simply screwed it all up. I hit the pole, I strike the curb numerous times and eventually, I gave up. I had too much on my mind. I still do.
Also, earlier today we finalized the transfer of ownership of Fred’s scooter, finished packing of our luggage and checked out of the Wilby Residences. I am absolutely exhausted.
Anyway, I will have to go now. Wouldn’t be nice for me to stay on the computer when I could catch up with my family. So bye bye now and I promise I’ll write again when I can as soon as I arrive in Zürich. For now though, I’ll leave you guys with some of the photos that I took for the past week…

How did the new year kick off for you? Mine didn’t exactly started with a bang but it has definitely kicked off in full gear.
Ever since we got home, I’ve been nothing but busy. Been out almost everyday! Earlier during the week, I had the fitting of my dress. I won’t be able to post the photo because Fred reads my blog and he’s not supposed to know how it looks like. So it’ll be a surprise. And then I fell sick. Nothing serious though, just a spell of bad runny nose and terrible sore throat that wiped out my voice leaving me sounding like a man.
Anyway, I managed to get little jars at Ikea during the week. I’m gonna fill them with dried leaves and have it shipped together in the cargo. And speaking of the cargo, the movers will be here to pack on Wednesday. Which ONLY leaves me with tomorrow to pack my things at my mom’s. Oh bother…
As for our wedding, the favors are settled. Bought the batiks for table placemat and finally worked on the wedding invitations. Marriage documents have also been submitted to the embassy and the date is set for the civil wedding. Now we’re just waiting for the date confirmation and menu for the wedding reception from the venue.
That, I hope, explains my lack of blog entries. You see, as I’m blogging away right now, Fred is running all around the house packing his electronic items. I did ask him many times if he needed help but he simply shooed me away. So here I am…

Since I’m writing this in Switzerland and we’re behind by 7 hours from Singapore, technically, it’s not the new year for me. At least not yet. So here we go…
For 2010, my resolutions are :-
- Quit smoking
No timeline exactly but I’m giving myself some time till after our wedding (before the end of the year). YES! I’m getting MARRIED!!! Back to that in another post.
- Get a driving license
I could’ve gotten it way before 2010 but unfortunately, I failed the test. Looking at the bright side, I don’t have to do the theories and practical lessons all over again. Next test: 17th February 2010. Wish me luck!
- Speak better French
I can’t express how crappy my français is right now.
- Eat right & keep fit
With all the junk food and no exercise I’m getting, I wouldn’t be surprise if I get a heart attack or gain 10kg in 3 months. Salads, vegetables, cereals, grains… here I come!
I can’t think of more resolutions for the time being. So that’s all for now. Too much going on in my life at this very moment and I’m just dying to settle down and be quiet. Yes! That’s it! That’s one of my resolution for 2010…
- More moments of reservations
To all my readers in Singapore, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

With just 3 days left before our holidays, the week has been frantic and full of errands to run. One most important thing that we need to settle before we leave, is finding a “short-term accommodation”. As soon as we get back from Switzerland, the lease at our current apartment will end in 7 days. It will be almost impossible to find a place to stay within a week. So I was tasked to scout online for serviced apartments.
That’s when I found ST701 Property!

With the vast listings of properties in Singapore, I must say I was quite impressed when I’ve also found a classification for serviced apartments as well! Lemme show you…

I searched for Service Apartment for rent and to my surprise, I got 17 search results! Which I have to emphasize that it is definitely more than doing a Google search that doesn’t always give me relevant results.

ST701 Property Guide
Apart from featuring rental properties, ST701 Property also provide search for other Singapore real estate. For instance; sale of Singapore HDB, landed properties, condominium and even commercial space.
Plus! On top of these handy features, they also provide users tools, guides and thorough information when buying a property in Singapore. From, ‘Housing Loan Calculator’ to ‘Comparative Bank Rates’ to ‘Budget Checklist’, the extensive range of products will definitely assist to bring you a step closer to owning your dream home!
Fret not for those who wishes to sell their property as ST701 specializes in that area too! With thousands of prospective buyers registered with them, there will always be someone eager to get their hands on your prime property. Real estate agents and homeowners may place their ads on their website by registering as a user for FREE.
Another feature that I’ve found to be helpful is the Just Ask column. Located on the bottom left of their main page, Just Ask works basically like an FAQ.
How it works?
Simple! Login as member and Just Ask any question related to Singapore property and you’ll be surprised by the answers you get and the things you’ll learn.

About ST701
Introduced by C.AT.S Classified as an e-marketplace, ST701 was first launched on March 24, 2006 as a job portal. ST701 carries the initials of The Straits Times, Singapore Press Holdings’ flagship newspaper and Singapore’s national English broadsheet. The numbers”701″ convey what the user will experience: 7 days a week search at the 01 place that matters.
Now, expanded further into helping Singaporeans with classified ads, their development has covered from online recruitment to motoring, property and general merchandise and services. Retaining The Straits Times identity, these verticals are respectively known as ST701 Jobs, ST701 Cars, ST701 Property and ST701 Shops.
